Return Policy

To initiate a return, please use our customer portal HERE.

We want you to be happy with your purchase from Shop The Muse! Please review our return policy carefully:

Store Credit Only: We issue store credit for all eligible returns.

Return Timeframes:

  • Initiation: Returns must be initiated within 7 days of delivery.
  • Shipping: You have 4 days to ship the item back after your return is approved.
  • Local Pickup Orders: If you selected local pickup, you must reach out through email within 7 days of your order being marked as ready to request a return.

Non-Returnable Items: The following items are final sale and cannot be returned:

  • Items with a discount of 20% or more (including sale items or utilizing loyalty points)
  • Accessories
  • Swimwear
  • Shoes
  • Merch

Late Returns: Items shipped back outside of the 4-day return window (after approval) will be returned to the sender.

Condition of Returned Items: To be eligible for store credit, items must be returned in their original condition:

  • With tags attached
  • Buttoned up
  • Folded appropriately
  • Free of excessive human or animal hair
  • Free of smoke smell
  • Free of makeup marks or smears (items returned with these issues may not receive full credit)

Loyalty Points Purchases

Orders placed using loyalty points are considered final sale. Items purchased with loyalty points are not eligible for return, store credit, or exchanges, and loyalty points used on an order cannot be reissued or refunded once the purchase is complete.

Denied Returns & Restocking Fee:

  • If returned items do not meet these requirements, the return may be denied.
  • If returned items are not in original condition, a $10 restocking fee will be deducted from your store credit.

Defective Items:

  • If you receive a defective item, please submit a claim on our portal within 2 days of receiving the item.
  • Include a photo of the damage in your email.
  • If we are not notified within 2 days, the item will no longer qualify for a return or replacement.

Important Considerations:

  • Shop The Muse is not responsible for damages to clothing caused by improper care or handling, or incorrect sizing by the customer.
  • The exact colors of merchandise may vary due to photography lenses, indoor/outdoor lighting, and computer monitor resolutions. Clothing patterns may also vary. These situations do not qualify as defects, and the buyer will be responsible for return shipping costs.
  • If you receive an email that your item was damaged upon return arrival, you have the option to buy another shipping label to get the item back.

Return Limits

Because our boutique features limited inventory, small-batch collections, and fast-moving seasonal styles, our return policy is designed to reflect the unique nature of our offerings and the number of returns we can realistically accommodate each month. This helps us maintain fairness and sustainability while continuing to offer new, fresh pieces that our customers love.

We do accept returns on eligible items, but to maintain fairness and balance as our boutique grows, customers are limited to a maximum of returning 7 items per month.

This policy helps us manage inventory more effectively, prevent over-ordering with the intent to return in bulk, and keep our prices reasonable without adopting the practices of large retailers. As a small business, we simply can’t absorb the costs of unlimited returns, and this limit ensures we can continue offering beautiful items while protecting the integrity of our shop.

Shipping Refunds & Combined Orders

We’re always happy to combine multiple orders placed close together whenever possible to help you save on shipping. When this happens, you’ll receive refunds for any duplicate shipping fees, following the guidelines below.

Please note that free shipping is only applied when a single order meets the $150 minimum. We do not combine smaller orders to reach that threshold.

To Qualify for Free Shipping:

  • Free shipping applies to orders $150+ in a single checkout.

  • Separate orders cannot be combined later to qualify.

  • If you’d like free shipping, we always recommend checking out all your favorites together in one $150+ order.

If You Place Multiple Orders:
When orders are merged into one shipment, here’s how shipping refunds work:

  • If one of your orders is $150+
    That order qualifies for free shipping, and any additional shipping fees from the combined orders will be refunded so you get free shipping on all.

  • If none of the orders reach $150
    We’ll combine them for you and refund all but one shipping charge.
    Example: place 3 orders → 2 of the 3 shipping fees will be refunded.

  • We do not total multiple orders together to create free shipping. One single order must meet the $150 minimum.

These guidelines help us keep fulfillment organized, ensure fairness across all customers, and allow us to ship your pieces quickly and efficiently.

Checkout+ (Optional Return + Shipping Protection)

We know how much thought goes into choosing your pieces, and we want you to feel fully confident from checkout to delivery. That’s why we offer Checkout+, our optional Return + Shipping Protection designed to make your experience as smooth and stress-free as possible.

What is Checkout+?
Checkout+ is an optional add-on available at checkout (U.S. orders only) that covers both your return shipping and your package in transit.

What’s Included:

  • Free Return Shipping: If you need to return eligible items, your return label is completely free.

  • Without Checkout+: You can still return eligible items, but the cost of the return label will be deducted from your store credit or required to be paid by you.

  • Shipping Protection: Your order is protected in case it is lost, stolen, or damaged in transit giving you added peace of mind once it leaves our hands.

  • Shipping Without Checkout+: If your package is lost, stolen, or damaged in transit, you will need to file a claim directly with the shipping carrier.

Important Details:

  • Checkout+ must be added at the time of purchase and cannot be applied retroactively.

  • Checkout+ is never eligible for a refund

  • Checkout+ is currently available for U.S. orders only and does not apply to international orders.

Please Note:
Checkout+ does not override our return policy. Items marked as final sale or listed as non-returnable are still not eligible for return, even if Checkout+ is purchased. This protection applies only to items that meet our standard return eligibility requirements.
